Lucy Hoy was the daughter of George Hoy (b.1825, d.1906) and Susannah "Susan" Maple (b.1825, d.1918). Her parents are buried in the King-Hoy Cemetery, Greene Co., PA.

About 1881 Lucy married John Pierson Taylor. Between 1882 and 1896 they had 7 children all born in Marion Co., West Virginia. They named these children: Dora, George S., Susan J., Mary Margaret, Cora May, James Linsey and Benjamin Franklin Taylor.
