Betty J. Jones, 79, of Valparaiso, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2005. Betty had been a Valparaiso resident since 1947, coming from Kouts. She was born September 6, 1926, in Kouts to Walter and Effie (Williams) Jackson and graduated from Kouts High School in 1944. She worked at the Continental Diamond Fiber/Budd Company for 25 years, then at McGill Manufacturing, Electrical Division for 20 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Valparaiso. Betty is survived by one sister, Ruby (Harold) Knope of LaCrosse; two nephews: CWO/4, Ret. USMC James (Yoshi) Knope of Kansas City, MO and Lt.Col. US Army Kenneth Knope of Milwaukee, WI and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Ralph and Duane Jackson. Visitation will be Tuesday from Noon to 1:30 PM at the First Presbyterian Church, 3401 N. Valparaiso St., with funeral services at 1:30 PM. The Rev. Gretchen Seidler-Gibbs will officiate with burial to follow at Graceland Cemetery in Kouts. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Building Fund.
