Cheryl Lee Forbes, 74, of Oskaloosa, died Thursday, July 18, 2019 at her home. She was born December 13, 1944 at Topeka, the daughter of Thomas LaVerne and Verrell Marjorie Weinberg Garren. Cheryl graduated in 1962 from Seaman High School, Topeka. She retired after 25 years from Underground Utilities Incorporated where she was a Bookkeeper and Payroll Clerk. She also worked for three and a half years at Casey’s as well as being part owner of Oskaloosa Auto from 1980 to 2010 where she assisted her husband Rex. She was a member of the Oskaloosa United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She married Rex Gale Forbes on January 27, 1963 at Topeka. He survives of the home. Other survivors include a son, Randy Gale (Stacy) Forbes, Beeville, TX, a daughter Lori Ann (Jerry) Greene, Meriden, three brothers, Monte (Rhonda) Garren, Rick (Cathy) Garren, all of Oskaloosa, Marty (Julie) Garren, Topeka, a sister, Tanya (Steve) Newell, Oskaloosa, four grandchildren, Andrew Forbes, Sierra Smith, Tyler Greene and Dillon Greene and one great-grandchild. Cremation is planned. A Memorial Services will be at a later date with burial at Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oskaloosa United Methodist Church or Jefferson County Friends of Hospice and sent in care of Barnett Family Funeral Home, PO Box 602, Oskaloosa, KS 66066.
