OBITUARY:
Richard "Dick" L. Riggins, 78, of Beloit, WI, passed away after a brief battle with cancer on Friday, July 19, 2019 surrounded by his family.
He was born on March 16, 1941 in Rockford, IL., the son of Leo and Edna (Welte) Riggins. Dick was a 1959 graduate of Beloit Catholic High School. He married his wife in Las Vegas, NV.
Dick was employed by Wisconsin Knife Works for 31 years as a sales/marketing representative, owned Afton Cutting Tools and retired from Yates America in 2008. He always took pride in his home and yard, enjoyed spending time with very dear friends, golfing, weekly winter poker games and playing pool with his life long friends. Dick was an avid NASCAR, Colts and Dodgers fan who looked forward to his son and grandchildren at the Dodgers vs. Brewers game. He kept stats for the Dodgers since he was a young boy and was the go-to for sports trivia before Google took over. Dick was a loving father and grandpa, a watchful and loving brother and "cool" uncle. He was fun, witty and had a contagious laugh.
Dick will be remembered for his personality and even bigger heart.
Survivors include his wife, his son, 2 grandchildren, 2 sisters, 1 sister-in-law and 1 brother-in-law, many special nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; step parents, Dorothea Riggins and Mike Richardson; broth in-law, William Mead; nephews, Jason and Jedidiah Mead.
The family would like to give a special thank you Beloit Regional Hospice for the care and compassion in their time of need.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2019 in the Daley Murphy Wisch and Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit, WI. with Reverend Gene Van Galder officiating. Visitation of remembrance will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Thursday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial in his name may be given to the American Cancer Society or The Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin.

"The Broken Chain"
We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly.
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone; for part of us went with you, the day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide; and though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.
