Joseph began his walk of faith with Christ at an early age of 12. He was ordained as a Deacon at the age of 20. Joseph graduated from Lincoln institute school in 1955. He also was a good baseball player, his position was a pitcher at the cement plant.
Joseph worked as a laundry attendant in Muldraugh, Kentucky until he was enlisted into the Army in 1961 where he served as the lead Mass Hall Sergeant. He served our country until 1982 and retired with honors as an E7 Sergeant 1st class. After his tenure with the Army he worked at the Masonic Home as their lead Chef for 10 years. Joseph “LOVED” his family, he enjoyed playing his guitars, singing gospel music, and most of all he loved spending time with his dog Rosie.
He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Ellen Brantley and his son Franklyn Bennett.
He married his childhood sweetheart Margaret Ann Gearing in the early 1960’s and from that union 3 dedicated children were born, Joseph T. Lawson, John E. Lawson, and his baby girl Melissa S. Hood. He also leaves to cherish his memory his cousin Carmen Louise Murray (B.K.A. Aunt Missy), a host of Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews and his devoted companion, his dog Rosie.
