Monte Ririe Smith passed away July 17,2019, in the comfort of his home. He was born January 19th, 1941 in Murray, Utah to Juliadean Ririe Smith and Leonard Smith. He attended schools in Magrath Alberta, Canada, Utah State University and BYU. He served a mission for the LDS church in New Zealand and served in many church callings in the church including teaching the Blazers in primary which he loved. He honored his country by serving in the Air Force in the Vietnam War where he served in the branch presidency. He married his sweetheart of 53 years, on October 1, 1965. They were blessed with 8 children, 30 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. He was very passionate about the restored gospel and dedicated his life searching scriptures teaching the gospel. In his travels he memorized the Lectures on Faith. His love for learning led him to studying Constitutional Law, Diet and Nutrition, and all kinds of sciences.
He owned his own construction company and took pride in his work making sure everything he built was a masterpiece. Monte loved to cook and took pride in watching his family enjoy his food. Monte is survived by his loving sweetheart Janet, His sons: Todd (Tammy), Jason, Jacob (Ginny), Jared (Brandie), Micah (Amanda), & Luke. His daughters: Drue (Abe Taylor), Brooke (John Wray). His wisdom and advice will be greatly missed.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Santaquin City Cemetery, 100 East 300 South, Santaquin, Utah. Visitation will be held prior to service from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Utah.
