Wilma L. Henderson, 96, of Denham Springs, Louisiana, passed away on July 13, 2019. Our loving Shepherd tenderly took her hand and lead her home. Paradise with no pain, a beauty beyond our comprehension. She touched many hearts with her gentle but strong love for God. She was born into a loving family on January 6, 1923 in Itasca, Texas. After graduation from Itasca High School, she moved to Houston, Texas where she met her husband, Ray Henderson and was married to him for 57 years before he passed. Ray, love of her life, passed on August 9, 1998. With compassion and being a devoted loving Mom, she raised Alan Ray Henderson and Deborah Kay Henderson. She always reflected Jesus in her life as a Proverbs 31 woman. God blessed her with 4 grandchildren: Wyatt & Carrie Henderson and Crystal and April Smith. Her daughter-in-law Sharon Henderson and son-in-law Mitchell Smith looked upon her as a loving Mom. God blessed her again with the following great-grandchildren who called her Great-Maw: Caitlin and Connor Reeves, Rylie Gardner, Kai Henderson, Lyndsie Gardner, Christian Reeves, Whitley Gardner, Caity Reeves, Kaden Gardner, Canaan Reeves, Baby Angel Madelyn Gardner, Avery Gardner. She grew up in the Church of Christ and belonged to the Goodwood Church of Christ in her later years. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed. The Bible was her favorite reading book, with Psalm 139 being her favorite chapter. She would want you to remember a verse of the Bible, "Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path." She also loved doing crosswords, sneaking ice cream and eating oatmeal cookies. Her sisters and brothers preceded who preceded her in death are: Lena Mae Rowe, Lloyd and Bernard Bearden, Lois Pharris, Maurine Henderson. She never stopped praying for family and others.

Visitation will take place at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039 on Friday, July 19, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. with the funeral to begin at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Psalms Resting Place in Brookside Memorial Park. If you would like, donations may be made to Goodwood Boulevard Church of Christ for their Children's Bible Class. May you always remember her loving, encouraging smile and pass it forward, even to strangers.
