Alecia Lucille Hansberry passed away on August 4, 2009, in Crescent City. She was born on September 3, 1933 in Umapine, Ore. and was a 51-year resident of Del Norte County. Alecia worked for the Del Norte School District Cafeteria for many years before retiring. She also worked at Wayside and Park City Markets for many years. Alecia was the Sunday School secretary for several years at Cornerstone Assembly of God Church. For her enjoyment, she loved to knit and crochet. Alecia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many people. She is loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, James Hansberry; her children, Nancy Hunter (Edgar), Norma Diaz and Thomas Hansberry (Carla); her grandchildren, Christopher Hunter, Dawn Weinholz, Shanan Hoagland, James Duran, Ernest Duran, Trisha Hansberry, Enrique Duran, Miranda Dunning and Jody Bingham; 23 great-grandchildren and special friends Connie and Clyde Merrial.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Juanita,; father, Benjamin; brother, Daryl, and her son-in-law, Joaquin Diaz.

Memorial services will be held at the Cornerstone Assembly of God Church on Saturday, August 8, 2009, at 2:00 P.M.

Contributions may be made in Alecia's memory to Cornerstone Assembly of God Sunday School, 1281 Douglas Street, Crescent City, CA 95531.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wier's Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City.
