METTER - Richard Earl Nobles, 73, died Saturday at his home. The native of Long County moved to the Metter area in 1992, he was retired from Brooks Instruments and was employed with the Tax Assessors office in Candler County. Richard loved restoring old tractors, watching sports - especially NASCAR and football, and spending time with his dogs Abby and Bruni. He also served in the Army during the Korean Conflict as an MP.
Survivors: His wife Dorothy A. Lanier of Metter; Son: Mitchell Earl Nobles of Statesboro; Daughter: LuRene Cochran of Statesboro; his mother: Marie Long Nobles Peacock of Portal, Step Children: Gary F. Lanier of Nevils, Sharon Brannen of Register, Kimberly Lanier of Milledgeville and Vickie Vermeer of Cary NC; Sister Gloria Nobles Peacock of Portal; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Graveside funeral services will be 10:00 Tuesday, July 15 at the Lake Cemetery with visitation to be Monday evening 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers remembrances to Metter Animal Shelter care of City of Metter, GA 30439.
