EDMONTON – James E. Acree, 85, of Edmonton, passed away Monday, July 20, 2015, at his home. He was the son of the late Sherman and Flora Romines Acree. He was retired from the US Department of Agriculture and a veteran of the United States Army. James was a member of the Foundation Methodist Church were he taught Sunday school and played the piano. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in Metcalfe County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. He is survived by his wife Frances Pedigo Acree; eight sons, Jamie and wife, Lida Acree, of Geneva, Iowa, Bruce Hurley and wife, Lisa, of Edmonton, Mike Acree and wife, Sandy, of Cave City, David Acree, of Edmonton, Gordon Acree and wife, Julie Acree, of Knoxville, Tenn., Mark Hurley, of Edmonton, Joey Acree and wife, Ginger, of Edmonton, John Acree and wife, Karen, of Edmonton; five stepchildren, Valerie Atwell, Randy Hatcher, Veronica Decker and Charlotte Roach, all of Edmonton, Kerry Nunn and wife, Beverly, of Glasgow; two brothers, Buddy Acree and wife, Hilda, Joe Acree and wife, Lois; a sister, Elaine Warren; forty-two grandchildren and fifty-one great-grandchildren.
