"Jan Bodine Garner, 66, of Coleman died Saturday, July 13, 2019 at her residence. There will be a visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman. A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rick Ogles officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

"Jan was born December 8, 1952 in Coleman to John Daniel Bodine and Bennie Jo Merryman Bodine. She grew up in Coleman and graduated from Coleman High School. She later graduated from Ranger Junior College and received her cosmetology degree. Jan married Garland Lynn Garner on April 9, 1971 in Coleman.

"Jan worked with Dee Dee Merryman for several years before opening her own hair salon. She also liked arts and crafts and hunting arrowheads. She made many plaques out of the arrowheads that she found. She collected Dr Pepper memorabilia and would drive over to the Dr Pepper bottling plant in Dublin to purchase Dr Pepper bottles and put them in her soda machine in her beauty shop. Jan was very loving and kind and never met a stranger. Her greatest love was raising her children and watching them raise their children. She was a member of Community Baptist Church.

"Survivors include three children, Tracey Strickland and husband, Simon, of Rock Springs, Georgia, Burton Garner and, wife, Traci Fulbright of Coleman, Monte Garner and wife, Stephanie, of Santa Anna; seven grandchildren, Aspyn Garner of Santa Anna, Creedyn Garner of Santa Anna, Tatum Cantu of Santa Anna, Hailey Garzon of Brownwood, Lindzie Strickland Abner of Georgia, Jessica Strickland Dooley of Georgia and Megan Strickland Mullinax of Georgia.

"She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Garland on November 13, 2002; one sister, Dannie Jo Bodine Ogles Baker and one brother, Johnny Bodine."
