Elmer (Elmo) Lowell Stewart, 90, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Claremore Veterans Center, Claremore, OK.
He was born on April 2, 1929 in Des Moines, Iowa to his parents, Elmer Johnson Stewart and Hazel Marie Kenoyer- Stewart.
Elmo started working with his dad in Construction when he was in the 8th grade. He made his career in Construction and worked in Construction all his life until retirement. Elmo was a manager over numerous crews in Phoenix & Glendale Arizona. He was a Christian and loved to serve others. Elmo left home at a young age to support his large family.
He married Betty Joann Little – Stewart on May 22, 1948 and they were married until her death.
Elmo served in the United States Navy from May 1946 - March 1948.
Elmo is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Hazel Stewart; wife, Betty Stewart; son, Danny Stewart; brothers, Harold Stewart, Alvin Stewart and Joe Stewart; sister, Shirley Kirkendal.
He is survived by his, granddaughter, Kristina Danielle Stewart; brothers, Ernie and Leonard Stewart; sisters, Alice Brown and Kathleen Russel ; his special friend that was like a daughter to Elmo, Carol Whited and husband Jimmy and their family; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Elmo’s Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Monday, 6:00pm, July 15, 2019 in the Chapel of Lawson’s Funeral Homes, Jay, OK with Pastor Lenny Martin Officiating and United States Navy Military Honors.
Elmo’s Private Burial will be held in Lucerne Cemetery, Lucerne, MO. Arrangements are entrusted to and under the direction of Lawson’s Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 311 W. Gray, St., Jay, OK 74346, Shaunda J. Lawson, Owner/Funeral Director and Staff.
