Funeral Services for Mrs. Brenda McLendon Adams will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Williams Chapel Baptist Church 1142 Highway 29 South, East Dublin, Georgia. Pastor Rickey B. Stanley will officiate. Interment will follow at the Valdosta Baptist Church Cemetery.
The virtuous woman described in Proverbs is reflected in the life of Brenda McLendon Adams. The third child born to the late Warren and Opal Dean McLendon, “Shorty” as her father lovingly nicknamed her, brought her family joy from the time she was born on August 2, 1958.
Brenda joined Valdosta Missionary Baptist Church as a young child and spent the majority of her life exploring ways to serve her church and her community. In her adult life she joined Central Baptist Church where she actively served and was dedicated as president of the Ushers Ministry. More recently, she was a committed member of God’s Divine Vision Church where she was president of the Missionary Ministry. It was there that she gladly received from her pastor the title of “church mother”.
Left to cherish the memory of this beautiful woman of God are her husband, Ernest Adams; two daughters, Lanetha Johnson of Dublin and Heather (Jamiil) Moore of Summerville, S.C.; her son, Brantley Johnson, Sr. of Dublin; two sisters, Carolyn (Oliver) McCune of Dublin and Charlene McLendon of Stone Mountain; her brother, Harold (Alice) McLendon, Sr. of Dublin; ten grandchildren: Johari Moore, Amani Moore, Harmoni Moore, Khloe Moore, Travis Davis, Zoey Davis, Brantley Johnson, Jr., Bradyn Johnson, Mason Johnson and Braxon Johnson; her mother-in-law, Margie Adams of West Monroe, LA; four sisters-in-law, Charlene Kelly of West Monroe, LA, Brenda Wallace of Monroe, LA, Margaret (James) Burton of Oakley, CA, Shelia (Dexter) Cyrus of Monroe, LA; two brothers-in-law, Harry Adams of San Antonio, TX and William Adams of Monroe, LA; several devoted aunts and uncles and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 19, 2019 from 6-7 at Serenity Funeral Home 414 Telfair Street, Dublin. Family will receive friends at the home of her daughter Lanetha Johnson 514 Pine Street, Dublin. Serenity Funeral Home, of Dublin has charge of arrangements.
