Harold L. Goodwin, age 78 of Gays, IL formerly of Mattoon, IL passed away at 9:45 PM, Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Casey Health Care Center in Casey, IL.
A funeral service in his honor will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938. Burial will immediately follow in Dodge Grove Cemetery in Mattoon, IL. A visitation will be held Monday evening, July 15, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Harold was born on April 22, 1941 in Mattoon, IL the son of Elma D. and Thelma L. (Hill) Goodwin. He married Mickie D. Fleenor; he later married M. Jean Kastl; and then later married Cathy (Epperson) Crum in 2001, she passed away in 2004.
Harold is survived by one son, Terry L. Goodwin of Gaston, SC; two daughters, Stacey J. Goodwin of Mattoon, IL, Kristen R. Goodwin of Gays, IL; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by one daughter, Michelle Quast; three brothers: Eddie, Leon, and Bill Goodwin; three sisters, Shirley Cordes, Mary Parker, Delores Heselton; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
Harold attended St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mattoon. He was employed by Walkers Construction in Mattoon, IL as a laborer for many years. He was a member of Laborers Union 159 of Decatur, IL and Moose Lodge, Eagles Club, and American Legion all in Mattoon. Harold enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and spending time with his family. He enjoyed life, family and friends.
