He was originally buried at the Westervelt Cemetery (near Totowa, New Jersey). His remains are believed to have been moved to Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Paterson, Passaic County, New Jersey about 1895 and buried in the Westervelt Plot there along with his wife and possible children.
Johannis Cornelius Westervelt (b. 1731) married Elizabeth Bogert (b. 1738). They had five children together (all were born in Passaic County, New Jersey):
I. Theodosie Westervelt - She married Abraham A. Van Rypen
ii. Antje Westervelt - She married David Kerr.
iii. Cornelius John Westervelt - He married Maria Simmons on 20 September 1797.
iv. Luycas "Lucas" John Westervelt (b. 17 Mar 1781 in Pompton, Passaic, New Jersey; d. 19 March 1825 in Tenafly, Bergen, New Jersey).
v. Rangel John Westervelt. He married Gerrit Gerritse.
