MARY ANN STEPHENS

Mary Ann Stephens, age 82, of 3216 Parkway Blvd., Two Rivers, died peacefully Monday afternoon, Dec. 31, 2012 at the Hamilton Care Center, Two Rivers.
Mary Ann was born Nov. 19, 1930 in Chicago, IL, a daughter of the late Theodore J. and Alice W. (Hochhalter) Gollin. She graduated from the local grade school in Matteson, IL and from the Bloom Township High School in Chicago Heights, IL in 1949. On Sept. 6, 1952, she married Robert J. Stephens in Harvey, IL where Bob was attending college at the time. The couple moved to Two Rivers in March, 1956, when Bob acquired a job with Hamilton Mfg. Co. Shortly after arriving in Two Rivers, Mary Ann and Bob joined Grace Congregational Church where throughout the years Mary Ann remained very active as a member of various boards, singing in the choir, and serving as a secretary at the church. She was also a soloist for the choir, and for many weddings and funerals - including the funeral for Lydia Clarke's father, who was Charlton Heston's father-in-law. After her two boys were older, Mary Ann worked for several years in the office of Suettinger Sheet Metal and at the Two Rivers Municipal Hospital. Following Bob's retirement in 1994, the couple decided to keep Two Rivers their home, where church, family & friends remained close.
Survivors include her husband, Robert J. Stephens; two sons, Mark Robert Stephens & special friend, Linda of Bismarck, N.D., Jeffrey Lynn (Trish) Stephens of Two Rivers; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Leslie, Eric, Patrick, Nikki, and Aimee; and five great grandchildren.
She is further survived by one sister, Patricia Gunty, Colorado Springs; one brother, Buster (Pat) Gollin, Coral Springs, FL; four nephews and one niece. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her step father, George H. Griff; and a brother-in-law, Lenny Gunty.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 4, 2013 at Grace Congregational United Church of Christ, 2801 Garfield St. Two Rivers. Rev. Kim Henning will officiate at the service, with burial in Forest View Cemetery, Two Rivers.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Grace Congregational Church on Friday morning after 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.
