With overwhelming sadness we announce the passing of our son Jacob Michael Russell, who lost his battle with depression Monday July 8, 2019 at his home in Ogden, UT.

Born on January 4, 1997, Jacob was resourceful, clever, and a natural problem solver. Eager to grow up he searched out new and exciting experiences constantly. Jacob received his Eagle Scout award in his youth, then joined the United States Marine Corp in 2016. While he loved to read and was a quick learner, his true love was the outdoors. He was often found hiking, fishing, camping and hunting. The Marine Corp allowed him to serve his country, for which he was so proud. Jacob was honorably released at the end of 2017 following an injury sustained during training exercises. In January of 2018 he married the love of his life, Tess Kirchhoefer and they started their life together in a home they purchased in Ogden, UT.

After his time as a marine, Jacob returned to work at Lagoon in Farmington, UT this time as a roller coaster mechanic. Assigned to Cannibal, he often spent his days tethered high in the sky maintaining the ride. He formed truly strong relationships and loved where he worked. Mechanically minded, he also started a hobby of rebuilding cars.

Jacob is survived by his wife Tess Kirchhoefer, his parents Michael and Lynnette Russell, and his siblings Megan (Chip) Harbin, Jamison, Ireland and Jeremy.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Layton East Stake Center, 1015 Emerald Drive, Layton, Utah. Friends may visit family Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.

Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
