William Richardson was the son of the Honorable U.S. Congressman William Richardson and Sarah Elizabeth Rucker Richardson of Huntsville, Alabama. William was six months old when his mother passed away of hypertrophy of the heart on October 24, 1891. William moved to Nashville to live with Martha Buford and Henry Eugene Jones.
William was a former Nashville newspaper man and War Veteran. He had been in the insurance and real estate business in Miami, Florida.
Mr. Richardson received his preparatory school education at Wallace School in Nashville. Later he was a reporter on both The Tenneassan and The Nashville Banner staffs, and when the first Tennesssee regiment was mobilized to go to the Mexican border he went with it as a news correspondent. During the campaign he went to Mexico City in order to interview President Carranza.
Mr. Richardson enlisted in the 115th Field Artillery under Colonel Harry Berry when the United States entered the World War. After the War he lived for some time in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
William was married to the former Catherine Banks of Nashville. Two daughters.
