He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 48 years, Thérèse (née Davy); three daughters, Lynne (Bob), Christiane (Brian), Jocelyne (Doug) and one son Réal. Also missing him are his grandchildren, Bobbie (Jamie), Bradley, Jennifer, Amanda, Michelle, Joshua, Chase, Stephan, Kaitlyn, Marci, Candace and Justin.
He also leaves to mourn three brothers, Denis (Diane), Henry (Angeline), André (Jeannette); three sisters, Marie-Joseph (Denis), Rolande (Abe) Wiebe and Ange-Aimée (Gerry), and numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by one special sister France Durand at the age of 12 years.
Papa as he was so affectionately known to his family, was born in Notre Dame and was raised in the Treherne area until he moved back to Notre Dame to work for J.B. Deroche. He then purchased Notre Dame Transfer which he worked at from 1955 to 1968. In 1968 he sold the transfer and bought his farm and stayed there until his retirement in 1986 when he moved back to Notre Dame.
His love for his wife and family was second to none. He always wanted people around. He enjoyed his work, his friends, hunting, his New Years Day visits, and playing cards oh yes playing cards, 500, La Dame de Pique.
We miss his April Fools jokes, his visits, his sense of humor, his love of life and family. Dad, we will miss you but we will not miss the look of pain in your face. It's all over now. Grand-maman du ciel is now looking after you, have a glass of wine with Pépère and don't worry about us. We will be just fine and we will look after Mama.
With respect for his wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church on Monday, October 22, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. with Father Léon Mubikayi and Deacon Luc Girouard officiating. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Notre Dame Health Foundation or to a charity of choice.
Adam's Funeral Home of Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba in care of arrangements.
