-T.W. "Tom" Ford-

JUNE 1, 1924 – MAY 17, 2014

Tom (Hank) T.W. Ford Tom passed away peacefully two weeks shy of his 90th birthday. Born in Oklahoma 6/01/24, he left at age 16 to join the Navy prior to WWII and never looked back. He served proudly for four years onboard the mighty USS Enterprise, CV-6. Tom could always recount in vivid detail the hours leading up to Pearl Harbor Day and every South Pacific battle fought by the brave men of the Enterprise. His days as a USN Radioman led him to a career in the communications industry working for Alaska Communications System. Tom met his wife, Erna, onboard the Kalakala Ferry sailing from Seattle to Bremerton in 1943. They married in 1945 and would celebrate their 69th anniversary in July. They lived in Seattle all their married life and raised two daughters, Sandi and Nancy. After their retirement they spent 30 winters in Yuma Arizona as Snowbirds and made many great friends down south. Tom had the most sincere and amazing gift of gab and loved life to the fullest. Everyone he ever met could not help but love him too. Tom and Erna travelled the world and enjoyed many fabulous cruises. A favorite memory was taking the entire family on an Alaska Cruise to celebrate their 60th Anniversary in 2005. Tom's pride and joy was his family, his two great sons-in-law, his six wonderful grandchildren, and three adorable great grandchildren. He never failed to tell us how blessed he felt with the life that he had led for 90 years. His positive outlook on life and great sense of humor will be a wonderful legacy for all of us left behind. Tom is survived by his wife Erna, daughters Sandi Detwiler (Rick), Nancy Anderson (Bill), and his brood of nine grand and greats! His greatest joy would be to see flags flying high on Memorial Day to salute all veterans who served so bravely during WWII and who still serve today. We salute you Dad!
