Russell Clarence McCumber married Lillian Ellen "Lilly" COOPER on 28 Oct 1915 in Baldwin, Lake Co., Michigan.

They had four children.

Earl Franklin McCumber

Their daughter Lilly died in infancy.

Russell tragically died on 28 Jan. 1925 at age 31 years, 8 mos, 3 days in Logan Twp, Mason Co., Michigan. Although the death record said he died from angina pectoris, this was in error. He actually died from rat poisoning. He became ill with a cold and took quinine. He died soon afterwards. At the time, they did not know it was rat poisoning, until his wife took it and she too died afterwards, eight days after his death.

His occupation was electrician at the time of his death.

After his wife's death, their three sons were placed in other homes. The oldest and the youngest, Jarvis Clarence McCumber and Earl Franklin McCumber were raised by their maternal uncle Joseph Adell COOPER. They assumed the COOPER surname for the rest of their lives. The 2nd oldest son Myron Edward McCumber DAVIDSON was adopted by Robert
