Virginia Louise Whitson, age 81, of Portland, passed away June 14, 2004. She was born in Sumner County on December 29, 1922, to the late Gar and Lannie Petty. Survived by daughters, Barbara Fishburn of Cornersville, Dorothy Seay of Madison, Edith Kuhn of Portland, Linda Bolton of Portland, Eva Pippin of Portland; son, Floyd Whitson of Portland; stepdaughter, Patricia Sluti of Stylewater, N.Y.; 20 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; sister, Betty Crowder of Madison; brother, Thomas Petty of Portland. Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at Wilkinson & Wiseman Funeral Home with Bro. Robert Gilman officiating. Interment will be at Old Brush Cemetery.
