Mr. James Beatrice “J.B.” Hutchins, age 87, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Landmark of Bardstown. He was born on March 22, 1932 in Nelson County to the late James Alfret and Mary Beatrice Settles Hutchins. James was a dairy farmer and loved playing checkers so much he was known as the “checker king” and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by 7 brothers and 2 half brothers.
He is survived by many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with Fr. Terry Bradshaw celebrant. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00-8:00pm with 5:00pm prayers and on Wednesday after 8:30am at the Houghlin Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road, who is in charge of arrangements.
