Peacefully at the Portage General Hospital on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, Mrs. Simone Rey of St. Claude, MB passed away at the age of 68 years.

She leaves to mourn her loving husband Léonel; three children, Pauline (Patrick) Rivard, Gilles (Michelle) and Patrick (Erin); eight grandchildren, Céline, Miguel, Sylvie, Brody, Breanne, Brett, Tyson and Misty; one sister Roseline Green (Gary); four brothers, Roger (Annette), Norbert (Marielle), Denis (Hélène) and Georges; and numerous aunts, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Simone also leaves to mourn Léonel's family, his two sisters, Simone (Normand) Dacquay and Mariette (Grant) Campbell; and five brothers Norbert (Donna), Arthur (Lorie), Roland (Lorraine), René (Lorraine) and Richard (Janet).

She was predeceased by her parents Félix and Blanche (née Lambert); one brother Henri in 1953; her mother-in-law Rose (née Chappellaz) and by her father-in-law Léon Rey.

Gentle and humble, Simone had a big heart. She battled cancer with strength and courage and helped many others with her words of encouragement. Simone found joy in spending time with her family as well as fishing and playing bingo. She will be lovingly remembered for her friendly nature and her quiet smile.

Family Prayers will be held at Adam's Funeral Home on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church in Portage la Prairie, MB on Friday, June 25, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. followed by interment in the St. Claude Parish Cemetery with Father Eric Gibbins officiating.
