Born in Providence, RI, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Mary (Livermore) Dwyer, she had been a longtime resident of Somerset.
A graduate of St. Xavier Academy, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Salve Regina University and her Master’s degree in Education from Rhode Island College in 1971. She was a Teacher for the Cranston Public School Department for over thirty years before retiring in 2000.
Mrs. Mayer was an active communicant of St. Patrick’s Church and a member of the Mother of Twins Club of Greater Fall River. An avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan, she also enjoyed doing all types of puzzles and playing solitaire.
