John M. Machowski, 89, of New Britain, died Sunday.
He was born in New Britain, and he and his wife Aldona owned Machowski Florist for 50 years.
He served in the National Guard and was a charter member of St. Jerome Church.
He was also a member of the Oaks Club, Club 48, Independent Political Club and the Falcon's Club, P.N.A.
Mr. Machowski is survived by a son, John P. Machowski of Farmington; a daughter and son-in-law, Aldona and Joseph Allevo of Ashford; two sisters, Mae Hudak of Marimac, Fla., and Florence Sarisky of Southington; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
His wife, Aldona Machowski, died previously.
Funeral services were held at the Paul A. Shaker/Farmingdale Funeral Home, New Britain, with a liturgy of Christian burial at St. Jerome Church, New Britain.
Burial was in St. Mary Cemetery.
