Jim’s siblings all preceded him in death. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim was a graduate of Juniata Valley High School Class of 1964. He served in the United States Army from 1965-1967 in Germany. Upon discharge from the service, he worked as a factory worker for Elco and Mead Corporation. He also was a truck driver for Penn Line before his retirement in 1995.
James attended St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Russellville, PA. He was a life member of Saxton Sportsman’s Club as well as the Alexandria American Legion and the Saxton V.F.W. Post No. 4129. Jim played playing softball for Petersburg and baseball for The Moose in his younger years in the Huntingdon leagues. He participating in the Young at Heart Games where he won many medals throughout the years. Jimmy was a cat and animal lover. He also loved to fish and travel. He collected antique and classic cars for fifty years. He will be greatly and sadly missed by wife, family and friends.
Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 from 6-8 P.M. at Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church Street, Saxton, PA 16678.
Burial will be held at Alexandria Presbyterian Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
