Gerald R. “Jerry” Rogers, 80, of Davenport, formerly of Harlingen, Texas, and Waterloo, died Friday, July 5, 2019, at Senior Star in Davenport.

Jerry was born November 12, 1938 in Cedar Falls, the son of Bert and Lydia Donach Rogers. He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1956.

Jerry married Joan Roehr-Brown on October 15, 1966; Joan died June 25, 2015

He served in the United States Army from 1961 until 1967 in Okinawa.

He worked at Chamberlin Manufacturing and later worked at John Deere until he retired.

In his earlier years, Jerry was a very avid bowler.

Survivors include three step-daughters, Margaret “Peggy” (Tyrone) Wilson of Bettendorf, Penni (Bob) Teare of Cedar Rapids, and Pamela Den Hartog of South Daytona Beach, FL; seven grandchildren, David (Heather) Wilson, Stephanie McDowell, Jennifer Nelsen, Thomas (Gerta) Den Hartog, Colin (Matka Trefz) Teare, Tyler Teare, and Mackenzie Teare; six great-grandchildren, Lexas, Jarrett, and Keagan Wilson, Liam Nelson, Conan Den Hartog, and Bennett McDowell; and many nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and wife; six brothers, Hugh, Francis, Donath, Donald, Stanley, and Howard Rogers; and two sisters, Mildred Rickard and Genevieve Grieves.

1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Locke Funeral Home
Visitation:
Friends may call for an hour before services at the funeral home.
