The son of Jacob Calvin Collins and Jessie Marcella Goff. Passed away at the Sentara Careplex in Hampton, Virginia on Saturday, June 22, 2019. Funeral held at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home on June 29, 2019 in Hampton, Virginia. Body taken to, and buried in, Birch Tree, Missouri on July 3, 2019 by daughter and son, per wishes of deceased. A graveside funeral was conducted by Yarber Mortuary.∼Marion Theodore Collins, 74, departed this life on June 22, 2019 in Hampton, VA. He was born on September 4, 1944 to Jacob Calvin Collins and Jessie Marcella Goff in Birch Tree, Missouri. Marion served his country from 1962 until his retirement in 1990 from the US Air Force, during which time he received a number of honors and awards.
Marion was preceded in rest by his wife Catherine Joan Barbour, his parents and his sister, Mary Janice Sechrest. He leaves behind his sister Caroline Bradford and four brothers: Patrick Goff, Tony Collins, Wendell Collins and Shawn Collins; son Rory Collins, daughter Carla Collins, daughter-in-law Kimberly Collins, granddaughter Madyssen Collins, his best friend of 20 years, Lobo, along with a host of nieces and nephews. Known to his friends as Ted, he always wore a smile and had a kind word for everyone. He was a dedicated husband and father and a loving Paw Paw.
Visitation will be held at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home on Friday June 28, 2019 from 6pm to 8pm. A celebration of life service will take place at Parklawn-Wood on Saturday June 29, 2019 at 2pm. He will be laid to rest in his hometown of Birch Tree, Missouri by Yarber Mortuary on Wednesday July 3, 2019.
