Virginia Maye Shelly, 98, formerly of Lemasters, PA, died July 4, 2019. Virginia had resided at Heritage Hill Retirement Home, Greencastle, PA, for the past five years.
Born May 2, 1921 in St. Thomas, PA she was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Ada Geiman Shaffer.
Virginia was a former employee of Stanley Company, Chambersburg, PA.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Lemasters, where she was a former choir member and Sunday school teacher. Virginia and her husband Earl had enjoyed traveling extensively around the country. There was a period when they managed "Shelly's Woods" along the Conocoheague Creek.
Surviving family include son in law, Ronald L. Barnes, Greencastle, two grandsons, R. Curtis Barnes, Greencastle, Craig A. (Julie) Barnes, Auburn, Ala., two great grandsons, Haven Barnes and Noah Barnes. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Earl F. Shelly, a daughter, Donna Shelly Barnes, and three siblings, Charles G. Shaffer, Howard E. Shaffer, and Margaret Larson.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday July 9, 2019 at Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg. Pastor Robert Mentzer will be officiating. There will be no viewing.
