Jan Frances Holley Long, 79, of Lakeland, TN died Tuesday, July 2nd, 2019.
Jan was born on December 10, 1939 to Clyde E. Holley, Sr. & Florence Ginnaven Holley.
She graduated from the South Side High School in 1957 and Memphis State University in 1966. Through out her life she worked for various Memphis and Shelby County agencies, including the Memphis & Shelby County Youth Commission, Memphis & Shelby County Juvenile Court, and the Memphis City Council. She joined Tim and Vernon in the family business working tirelessly to assist in establishing what came to be known as Tim Long’s Automotive Design. This was one of the many joys of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Long, her son, Timothy Long, her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Clyde E. Holley, Sr., her oldest brother Clyde E. Holley, Jr., and a sister, Elizabeth Lee Holley.
She leaves her brother, Richard “Dick” Holley of Houston, TX, two stepsons Leslie Howard Long (Linda) of Appleton, WI and Vernon Russell Long (Beverly) of Oakland, as well as 2 stepdaughters, Vickie Long Sudphen (Tommy) of Munford, TN, and Cheryl Long Brunette of Oakland, TN. She leaves 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, all of whom she dearly loved. Many nieces and nephews she will miss dearly.
Jan was a member First Baptist Church of Hickory Withe. She was also a member of the National Association of Professional Women, Concerned Women for America, she served on the Board of the Iron Worker’s Museum, and the Chickasaw Basin Authority.
For many years Jan actively took part in class reunions for her 1957 graduating class from South Side High School.
Funeral services will be held at Memphis Funeral Home Germantown Parkway, July 5, 2019. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am, service will be at 10:00 am followed by interment at Memorial Park South Woods.
