Unity Croshaw was the daughter of Major Joseph Croshaw, and a granddaughter of Raleigh Croshaw, who came to Virginia in 1608 with the Second Supply.
Unity Croshaw married Colonel John West by 1664, and as a result of the marriage and the early death of Joseph Croshaw's intended heir, the Croshaw plantation at "Poplar Neck" passed to John West. Unity died after 30 October 1693, when she relinquished dower in "Poplar Neck".

Called Ursula Croshaw West in most 19th and 20th-century publications, but Unity West in original documents.

Her memorial has been deleted several times and tampered with by other online hackers. Numerous messages have been received regarding her, her husband, and the situation with Cockacoeske, often with racist overtones.
