Born on May 11, 1930 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, to William E, and Florence M. (Haskell) Beatty. She graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1948 where she received the Haven Medal for Academic Excellence and was a member of the National Honor Society.
Arlene worked for the State of New Hampshire for 30 years and was Registrar at the New Hampshire Technical College in Portsmouth. She also worked at the Hobbs Insurance Agency in Portsmouth for 10 years, where she held her insurance broker’s license.
She was a member of the North Congregational Church in Portsmouth; member of the Portsmouth Country Club and a member of the Ladies Golf League for over 30 years; member of the former Rivermouth Chapter #54, and currently the Trinity Chapter, Order of Eastern Star; and the Women’s City Club in Portsmouth.
Siblings, William E. Beatty Jr; Charles W. Beatty; and E. Shirley Beatty, predeceased her.
Survivors include her nephew, William E. Beatty III and his wife, Bettyann of Concord; her niece, Sharon A. Foss and her husband, Donald of West Yarmouth, MA; grandnieces and grandnephews, Cynthia Pelletier and her husband, David, Kandance Cobb, Kimberly Beatty and her husband, Dan St. Hilaire, William E. Beatty V, Donald W. Foss Jr, and Gregg W. Foss; as well as several great nieces and great nephews.
Services: A time of visitation will be held from 10:00am – 11:00am with Order of Eastern Star services at 11:00am, at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home – Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad Street, Portsmouth. The funeral will immediately follow, at the funeral home, with Rev. Frank Newsome, officiating. Flowers will be accepted.
