Son of Silas Sammis and Ruth Rogers, baptized in August 1757 at the First Church of Huntington, NY, husband of Martha White, whom he married on November 28, 1781 in Smithtown, Long Island, New York, by the Rev. Joshua Hartt, and father of Israel, Zophar, Mercy "Matsey", Salle "Sallie", Keturah, Alexander, Elme "Emily" (married Isaac Trimmer), White and Charity "Charre" Sammis.

Estate - In the name of God, Amen, I Phillip Sammis of the town of Genoa, County of Cayuga, State of New York, being weake in body, but of sound & perfect mind and memory as you may say this, considering the uncertaintly of this mortal life and being of sound mind, blessed be Almighty God for the same, I do make & publish this my last will and testament in manner & forme following- that is to say, first, I give & bequeath unto my beloved wife, Martha Sammis, all my household goods & furniture for her youse as long as she lives, after her decease, they are to be divided equally between my three daughters, namely, Salle, Elme, & Charre Sammis if all living, if not to the liveing ones, further, I order all my just debts to be paid by my Executor & Executrix hereafter named as quck as convenient after my decease further, I give my wife a priveledge to live in my house as long as she lives, further I roder my son White to provide a good living for his mother, as long as she lived, furhter I give her the youse of two cowse and ten shepe as long as she lives, further I order my son White Sammis to keepe them for her summer & winter - I give & bequesth unto my son, White Sammis, all my farme that I now possess in Genoa, lot number 32, to him, his heirs and assigns forever, further I give my son White all my stocks & farming utensils adn all my carpenters tools, and all my cider & meete casks, further I give and bequeath unto my son, Israel Sammis, twenty five dollars when cald for, I give and bequeath unto my son Zophar Sammis a certain peace of land that I have on Long Island in Smithtown called the Geene farm to him his heirs and assigns for ever, further I give unto Matsey Bur fivve dollars when cald for, further I give Keturah Bur five dollard when cald for, further I give & bequeath unto my daughter Sally Sammis, one hundred fifty dollars, I also give unto my daughter Elme Sammis one hundred & fifty dollars. I also give unto my daughter Charre Sammis one hundred and fifty dollars, to be paid oute of my estate, they are to have theire living on the farm as they now live, until this legase is paid to them - I give my three daughters a priviledge to live in my house as long as live singel, and a privaledge for theire furniture, I give my three daughters one cow a peace, when they call for them after my decease, further I give my weaving looms and tacking that belongs to it, equally between my fore children, namely White Sammis and Salle and Elme Sammis and Charre Sammis - further I give all my moveabel property to my son White Sammis, that I have not disposed of heretofore, where to be found, I do hereby order my Executor and Executrix heare after named to pay all legases, I do hereby appoint my son White Sammis and Elme Sammis, my sole Executor & Executrix, of this my last will & testament and I do hereby confirm this and not other to be my last will & testament, and I hereby revoke all former will and hereby give my Executor and Executrix full power & authority as the case may require to fulfill this my last will & testament made by me this twenty forth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty two.
Signed, sealed, published and declared by the above named Philip Sammis to be his last will & testament in the presend of us who have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses in the presents of the testator, Philip Sammis.
