George H. Twickler Age 88, of North Andover passed away Friday at the Lawrence General Hospital.
Born in Akron Ohio , September 25, 1918 , son of Herman G. and Margaret Twickler. He graduated from Kenmore High School ( Akron ) in 1936. Graduated from University of Akron in 1942, receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha, national social fraternity, and Phi Sigma, national scholastic honorary. At Akron he also met and married Eleanor Evans, his beloved lifetime partner of 65 years.

He was a Naval Lt. (JG), during World War II, serving as a Destroyer Gunnery Officer, in the North Atlantic , and Asiatic Pacific theaters. Historically, participated in escorting the Presidential ( Roosevelt ) Mission across the Atlantic for the Yalta Conference.

For twenty years, Mr. Twickler was employed in several supervisory manufacturing positions at the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, Akron , Ohio , the Hoover Company, North Canton , Ohio , and Rubbermaid Inc., Wooster , Ohio . During his residence in Wooster , Ohio (1949-1961), he was also active in the Wayne County residential construction, designing and building 28 homes. He was a member of Wooster Rotary, Intl., and the Wooster Country Club.

Mr. Twickler moved to New England in 1962, to manage factories for S.W. Industries Inc. (Stow-Woodward), in Newton , Ma. He served as their New England Division Manager, for two elastomer roll covering plants, and the Ebonite Bowling Ball factory. There he received product and process patents for modernized bowling ball manufacture. He resided in Needham , MA , was a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club, and sailed out of Scituate Harbor .

In 1970, Mr. Twickler moved to Hartford Connecticut , and founded Crovel Inc., a Connecticut Corporation with offices and laboratory at 750 Main Street , Hartford , CT , to manufacture and market prosthetic hair replacements for men, women and children, in the U.S.A. and abroad. He managed this company until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of the Hartford Chamber of Commerce, and resided at West Farms Village .

In 1988, Mr. & Mrs. Twickler moved to North Andover , MA to be near their three children and their families. There he was a member of the North Parish Unitarian Church . For several years, Mr. Twickler served as a volunteer Certified Mediator for the North Essex County Mediators, a Community Dispute Resolution Service in Haverhill , MA .

He leaves his wife, Eleanor (Evans) Twickler, one brother, Richard B. of Branford, CT; one sister, Margaret Mary Watkins, of Elk City, OK; his oldest son, Eric G. of Worcester, MA and his wife Cecily; son, Bruce A. of Andover, MA and his wife Janet; daughter, Stephanie M. Meegan of Boxford, MA and her husband Richard; and four grandchildren, Sarah Twickler, Jennifer Meegan-Harsip, Peter Twickler, and Laura Meegan.

Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services on Wed. at 11:00 AM in the Trinitarian Congregational Church, 72 Elm St., North Andover.
