Jane Marie (Kuepfer) Hood, age 72, of Red Cliff, passed away with loving family by her side, while under hospice care, at her daughters home on Friday, November 3, 2017. She was born July 31, 1945 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Ashland, the daughter of Alfred and Arline (Williams) Kuepfer.

Jane was raised in Red Cliff and attended schools in Bayfield. She met Eugene Lee Hood while he was stationed at the Bayfield Coast Guard. They were united into marriage on May 11, 1964 and they had 5 children. The couple celebrated their 53rd anniversary this spring.

Jane worked early on as a bartender for Trollers Bar, Bates Bar and occasionally for the Bayfield Inn. She also worked at the Red Cliff Lanes for a few years. Recently she was a caretaker and loving grandma to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jane enjoyed collecting owls, knitting blankets and Barbie doll clothes and cooking large meals for her family who meant the world to her.

Jane is survived by 5 children, Gina (Michael) LaGrew, Kerri (George) Newago, Tami (Joseph) LaGrew, Jeff (Abby) Hood and Jason Hood; 14 grandchildren, Amber, Allissa (David), Alexia, Andrea, Skarlette (Andrew), Jade (Phillip), Veronica (Aaron), Arianna (Jorge), Joseph M. Jr., Joseph A. Jr. (Nicole), Ariel, Hayleigh (Glen), Caytiejayne and Jaykob “Kob”; 5 step-grandchildren, Tabitha, Zachary, Derek, Cameron and Kayden; 17 great-grandchildren, Daniel, Davion, Spencer, Kylie, Danielle, Rory, Madilynn, Mackenzie, Memphis, Jaxstin, Kristopher, Hunter, Kellsie, Havanna, Bella, Lynnleigh and Abigail; and a brother, Alan “Butch” (Sandy) Kuepfer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; and this year by her husband, Eugene on June 16th and her brother, Keith Kuepfer on August 10th. She was also preceded in death by her special friends, Dolly and Gale Pratt, Kenny and Elaine Deragon and Agnes Curran.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 7:00 pm, Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at the Bratley Funeral Home with Fr. Kevin Gordon officiating.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm on Tuesday and continue until the hour of service at the funeral home. A reception will follow the Mass at the Red Cliff Youth Center.
