David Franklin Hobbs of Yates Center, formerly of Toronto, died on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at the Yates Center Health and Rehab Center in Yates Center, at the age of 68.

He was born June 6, 1951, in Eureka, the son of Victor and Adeline (Watts) Hobbs. He was raised in Toronto and attended local schools. David joined the Army, and later the National Guard serving his country with honor and dignity. Upon completion of his service, he worked as a carpenter until he was united in marriage to Sharon Norris. David then began working for Coleman Company in Wichita. To this union one son was born. This marriage later ended in divorce. David was an oil field worker, cabinet maker, and carpenter. He later was united in marriage to Linda Bird. To this union, one daughter was born. The marriage later ended in divorce. David continued to work in carpentry, retiring when his health declined in 2007.

He was a member of the First Christian Church of Toronto and American Legion Post #325, and a former volunteer firefighter for Toronto.

David is survived by his children: David Hobbs, Jr. of Oklahoma; and Bobbie Jo Stoldt of Holiday, Florida; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four sisters: Vicky Gibson of Toronto; Carlyn and husband, Cecil McCoy of Neal; Jane Peavy of Toronto; and Bonnie Jean and husband, Kevin Smith of Bella Vista, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Gene Peavy; nephew, Scotty Gibson; and great-nephew, Cason Montgomery.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, June 15, 2019, at Toronto Cemetery in Toronto, with Pastor Kevin Lawrence of the Toronto United Methodist Church officiating.
