JOHN TARKA

It is with much sadness that we must say goodbye to our beloved Father, Gigi and friend John Tarka. He left us peacefully on October 16, 2010, at the age of 93.

Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters and their spouses / partners, his daughter-in-law, his five grandchildren and their partners / spouses, his ten great-grandchildren, and his one great-great-grandchild.

He was predeceased by his loving wife Jessie, his sons Steve and John, his son-in-law Marshall and his grandson Kelsey.

John married Jessie Wolchuk in 1939. He spent time mining in Saskatchewan and then they homesteaded a small farm in Foley, MB and started their family there. In 1956 they moved to Winnipeg with their four children. He worked as a service writer in the auto shop industry while in the city.

John loved to play Bingo and to garden and he participated actively in both until his death. His family was his greatest love. He will be deeply missed.

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 20, 2010, 10:00 a.m. at Holy Eucharist Church in Selkirk, Manitoba, 271 Sophia St. Interment and reception to follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main St, Winnipeg.

Pallbearers will be Jack Skakum, Kevin Zacharkiw, Guy Holt, David Boning, Kendra Zacharkiw and Larissa Skakum Boning.

Flowers are gratefully declined. Anyone wishing to make a donation may do so to a charity of their choice in John's memory.

Special thanks to his family doctor, Dr. Fred Olynyk who always took the time to take wonderful care of John. Also to Dr. Garcia and all the staff at the Riverview Health Centre who provided him with such excellent care in his last days.

Thank you Dad and Gigi for all the special times you shared with us. We will love and miss you always.

Glen Eden Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
