For over 20 years, Bill worked for Frey & Sons as a pattern maker. Following the closure of Frey, he worked for the School District of Lancaster for 10 years as chief engineer of Buchanan Elementary. Bill was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, in which he served overseas during the Korean War. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and shooting pool. A talented pool player, Bill won several tournaments as a part of the pool club at Riverside Camping Association. He was also a lifelong member of AMVETS Post 19.
In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his two children; Michael L. Sweigart, husband of Diana, of Carriere, MS, and Michelle L. Graves of Lancaster; his granddaughter, Logan Graves; step-grandchildren, Kristy, Amanda, and Kaitlyn; three step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Nancy L Sweigart of Smoketown. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Allen Sweigart and Eugene Sweigart; and his sisters, Floice Taylor and June Kohler.
A Viewing will be held Friday July 5, 2019 from 10:00-12:00pm at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home located at 441 N. George St. Millersville, PA 17551. Military Honors will be presented at the end of the viewing, starting promptly at 12:00pm. Please omit flowers.
