Major League Baseball Player. He was an American professional baseball pitcher who played seven seasons for the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Los Angeles Angels. A Los Angeles-area native, he was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels with the 40th pick in the first round of the 2009 draft, the same Angels draft class as Mike Trout. They were roommates in the low minor leagues before Skaggs was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks in August 2010. After he made his major league debut two years later, Arizona traded him back to the Angels after the 2013 season. In his major league career, Skaggs had a won–loss record of 28–38, an earned run average of 4.41 with 476 strikeouts. He was found dead in his hotel room in Southlake, Texas, where the Angels were in town for a four-game series with the Texas Rangers.
