Malcom Leroy Vedane was born June 9, 1936 in Lewis, Iowa, to Victor O. and Della (Hancock)
Vedane. He grew up in Menlo and graduated from Menlo High School in 1952. Following
graduation, he worked on the farm before beginning his 30-year career with Northwestern
Bell. Malcom worked with Northwestern Bell from 1954 to 1984 with a short hiatus when he
was drafted and served in the United States Army. Malcom took an early retirement and
took this opportunity to start his own company called Associated Communications
Advisors, a communications consulting firm. In 1992 Malcom moved to Missouri to fulfill a
live-long dream of owning a ranch where he could raise cattle which he did until moving to
Winterset in 2014.

Malcom married Mary Lou Gaekle on September 15, 1957 at the Methodist Church in
Oskaloosa and to this union two children were born, Monica and Mitchell.
