She was born May 21, 1934 in Smith Mills, KY to the late James Herbert Buckman and Grace Ellen Dills Buckman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James M. Crowell; and three sons, Ben Crowell, Steven Crowell, and Stacy Crowell.
Wilma was a member of the Providence General Baptist Church in Providence, KY and she had been attending Covenant Community Church in Madisonville. She was an avid cook and she loved doing crafts, singing, and dancing. She had a sweet loving kind heart and was full of life.
She is survived by her companion, Silas Long, Jr.; two sons, Jaime (Stefanie) Crowell of Madisonville and James M. (Terry) Crowell, Jr. of Nebo, KY; one sister, Sue Vada Carter of Henderson, KY; one brother, Ray (Betty) Buckman of Smith Mills; eight grandchildren, Amanda Crowell, Andrew Crowell, Micah Crowell, Ethan Crowell, Chase Crowell, Christian Crowell, Caden Crowell, and Eric Crowell; and one great grandchild, Beckham Crowell; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Ray Buckman, Rev. Barry Cullen, and Chaplain Pat Dew officiating. Burial will follow at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday and after 9:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hanson Veterans Center in memory of Jim and Wilma Crowell. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
