Alma J. Halvorson, 87, Devils Lake, formerly of Tolna, N.D., died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, in Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake, where she had lived since 1997.

Alma J. Hermanson was born Jan. 13, 1913, the daughter of Amund and Bertha (Borgerson) Hermanson, in Hamar, N.D., where she attended school. During World War II, she worked for Boeing Defense Plant, Seattle. She later moved to Minneapolis and then to Tolna in 1945. She married Thorvald Halvorson in 1961, in Devils Lake. They lived and farmed near Tolna. Thorvald Halvorson died in 1993.

She is survived by a son, Arlen (Shirley) Morris, Thief River Falls; three grandchildren; sisters, Selma Morris, Enderlin, N.D. and Hazel Pewe, Bottineau, N.D.; and a brother, Glenn, McVille, N.D. and Milfred, Devils Lake.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Benjamin and Sanfred; and sisters, Bernice Twete and Mable Hermanson.

Services: 10: 30 a.m. Friday, Sigdal Lutheran Church, Tolna.

Visitation: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, and one hour before services in the church.

Burial: Sigdal Lutheran Cemetery.
