US Congressman. Graduated from Muhlenberg College, and was entered into the Pennsylvania Bar in 1876. Commenced a law practice in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and served terms as city solicitor and as Lehigh County District Attorney. He was elected as a Democrat to represent Pennsylvania’s 13th District in the United States House of Representatives, serving two terms from March 4, 1903 to March 3, 1907. After his second term he was not a candidate for re-election to the seat, which was subsequently occupied by Congressman John H. Rothermel. He served as a delegate to the Democratic Convention in 1908, and died in Allentown in 1911.
