Funeral services for Jack W. Haskins, 78, Osage City, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in Osage City. Mr. Haskins died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, at Peterson Nursing Home in Osage City. He was born Jan. 21, 1931, at Osage City, the son of Clifford Monroe and Stella A. Bartee Haskins. He graduated from Osage City High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954, and then nine years in the Army Reserves. From 1954 to 1957, he worked for the city of Osage as a lineman. He took over the service station and bulk fuel delivery his father operated from 1933 to 1957, becoming Haskins Conoco and Haskins Oil Company Inc. In 1978 he purchased the fuel transport from the Parre brothers and operated it through 1990. He also enjoyed raising four children and following their activities. He enjoyed living and working in Osage City, being around his friends and meeting new people. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was also a longtime member of the Lions Club, American Legion and Topeka Oilman's Club. He served as a volunteer fireman in Osage City and coached Little League baseball. He married Darlene Lane on April 5, 1952, in Osage City. They divorced in 1992. Survivors include a son, David W. Haskins and wife Barb, Osage City; three daughters, Vicki L. Lozenski and husband Matt, Leavenworth, Janet K. Seele and husband Jerry, Baldwin City, and Linda J. Vandevord and husband Mike, Scranton; and 10 grandchildren, Amie Lohmeyer, Kylie, Hollie, and Ryan Haskins, Kristen and Jerod Seele, Mitchell and Mindi Lozenski, and Clayton and Cody Vandevord. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Marilyn Kay; and a daughter-in-law, Kay L. Haskins.
