Arthur was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He began his career in the mailroom of the International Nickel Company while attending school and worked his way up through the company over the next several decades, eventually retiring as Vice President/Controller of the company after 45 years of service.
Arthur was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church.
Surviving is his loving wife of 67 years, Eileen M. (Foley) Gray; his children, Arthur A. Gray and wife Mary Ann, Eileen McCarthy and husband William, Thomas M. Gray, and Kathleen Milone and husband Nick; as well as 14 grandchildren, as well as 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ann Marie Nasso.
