Lawrence "Larry" D. Deitrich, 73, of Niles, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in South Bend, Indiana.

Larry was born on September 2, 1939 to the late Harry S. and Grace (Adams) Deitrich. After graduating from Niles High School, Larry served his country in the U.S. Army. Larry attended Olivet College and then began working for Tyler's Refrigeration, retiring after 24 years as plant manager. Not being able to sit idle, shortly after his retirement he started working at McCoy Miller in Elkhart, Indiana where he was for over 10 years.

He was an avid Chicago sports fan. He had a heart of gold and loved taking care of "his cats". He also enjoyed spending time outdoors and tending his garden. His family was his greatest possession and he valued every moment with them.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters Jeanette Verdugo and Myrtle Allison.

Larry is survived by his wife Gale Deitrich of Niles, children Traci (Frank) Toth of Niles, Bryan Deitrich of Niles, grandchildren; Melissa (Jason Quist) Spurlock of Niles, David (Jessica) Hunsberger of Niles and Brittany Deitrich of Mishawaka, Indiana, great-grandchildren; Blake Spurlock, Katelyn Hunsberger, Zayne, Teagan and Jamieson Hunsberger, several nieces and nephews and brother-in-laws Louis Verdugo of Nevada and Cleo Allison of Ohio.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Brown Funeral Home in Niles from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services to honor Larry will be on Wednesday, at 1:00 p.m. with a time of visitation one hour prior.
