Dr. Melvin Akins Dies Suddenly
Brother Is in Saskatchewan Attending Funeral of Sister

Dr. Melvin Akins, well-known and esteemed Ottawa dentist, died this morning a the home of his brother, Dr. S.C. Akins, 109 Clarendon avenue. Dr. Akins had been working up till last night, and news of his death will come as a shock to a wide circle of friends. A sister, Mrs. W.J. Bradley, died on Sunday morning in Grenfell, Saskatchewan.
A native of Kinburn, Ontario, Dr. Akins, who was in his 41st year, was a son of the late Joseph Akins. He was unmarried, and attended the First Church of Christ Scientist. Dr. Akins was also prominently connected with the Masonic Order.
Chief survivors are five brothers, W.J. Akins and T.A.C. Akins, Winnipeg; F.L. Akins, Edmonton; J.R. Akins and Dr. S.C. Akins, Ottawa; one sister, Mrs G.H. Bradley, Merivale. No funeral arrangements have been made pending word from Dr. S.C. Akins who is in Grenfell, Saskatchewan, in connection with their sister's funeral.
