Elizabeth was born in Nashville, Tn and grew up in Brentwood. She attended Lipscomb Elementary, Northside Middle (now Brentwood Middle), and Brentwood High School. She graduated from MTSU where she majored in Elementary Education.
Elizabeth was very involved in programs at the YMCA. She especially loved the Leaders Club and the High School Christian Values Conference. She stayed involved in High School Christian Value Conference through college and into adulthood as a volunteer and leader. The friends she made there were very special to her and remained lifelong friends.
She was also involved with the YMCA Center for Civic Engagement (Youth in Government.) In 2009 she was named Volunteer of the year.
In second grade she announced she wanted to be a teacher. She never strayed from that dream. Her gifts were to love others, teach children, and show a loving and caring spirit wherever she went. She truly loved her work and every child she ever had in her class. She always wanted the best for them. She worked at different schools where she was always learning and making new friends. She was currently employed at The Gardner School and said it felt like home to her.
She also was working at The Tennessee Dyslexia Center, where for the past 17 years she used her talents to make a difference in the lives of children with dyslexia.
But, most importantly to Elizabeth she loved the Lord. This was the foundation of all her love she expressed to her family, her friends, and “her children”. She never married or had children of her own but touched the life of countless ones. She will be missed by many. The kindness and love she gave in her life to family and friends, along with the children she taught, will be remembered always by them and passed on to others.
In death, as in life, she continues to give. She decided many years ago to be an organ and tissue donor. Her kindness and loving spirit will continue to bless those who receive her final gifts.
Rest in Peace in the arms of Jesus.
Elizabeth is survived by her loving parents, Wilford and Carolyn Bachmann Potts; brother, David Potts; grandfather, Stuart J. Buchmann; aunts and uncles, Jim (Kristen) Bachman; Keith (Charlotte) Potts; cousins, Kristen Faith (Chris) Logan and children, Jimmy (Courtney) Bachmann and children, Rachel Bachmann, Sarah Elizabeth (Ben) Bartholomew and children, John Bachmann, Tina Potts and children, Marissa (Jacob) Potts and children, Josh Potts and children.
A graveside service will be held at Williamson Memorial Gardens.
