Airman 1st Class Jason D. Nathan of Macon, Ga., was a 2004 graduate of Central High School, and attended Fort Valley State University where he planned to study Criminal Justice. He comes from a military family. Joe Nathan Sr., his father, spent a year in Iraq before retiring from the United States Army in 2005 after a 22-year career. His oldest brother, 24 year old Joe Jr., served in the Air Force and is now a reservist. Jason's dream was to work for the FBI. He went into the military nearly two years ago after attending Fort Valley State University and being prevented from attending police academy because of his age. He died in Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle while on patrol at age 22.
